What kinesiology actually involves
Kinesiology is the movement half of recovery. Where manual therapy changes how tissue feels, kinesiology changes what you can do with it, building strength, control and capacity through a programme designed around your actual goals, whether that is lifting a toddler, getting back on a bike, or returning to a physical job.
Our kinesiologist has spent a decade working with people living with chronic pain and neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, MS, PSP and ALS, building programmes that hold on to function and confidence. ICBC kinesiology is billed directly with no user fee. Shockwave therapy for stubborn tendon and connective-tissue pain is offered by the same practitioner at Kirschner.
Your first visit
Initial kinesiology appointments are 45 minutes and include an assessment, a custom exercise programme and a walk-through of every exercise. Wear clothing you can move in. If you are coming through an ICBC claim, bring your claim number: ICBC kinesiology is billed directly with no user fee.
People book kinesiology with us for
- Active rehabilitation after a motor vehicle accident (ICBC)
- Building strength and capacity after an injury
- Parkinson's, stroke, MS and other neurological conditions
- Chronic pain that needs a graded, supervised plan
- Returning to sport, work or training safely
Not sure this is the right fit? Call either clinic and describe what is going on. The front desk will point you to the discipline that suits, even if it is not this one.

Kinesiology questions
Do I need a doctor referral to book?
No. In British Columbia you can book massage therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, kinesiology and acupuncture directly, with no referral. Some extended health plans ask for a referral before they reimburse, so check your own plan if you intend to claim.
Do you accept ICBC claims?
Yes. We accept ICBC patients for massage therapy, physiotherapy and kinesiology. Bring your claim number to your first appointment. We do not currently accept WCB or WorkSafeBC claims.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Arrive a few minutes early to complete a short health history. Your practitioner will ask about your symptoms and goals, assess the area, and then treat. You leave with a plan: what was found, what to do at home and whether a follow-up is worth booking.
What should I wear?
For massage you undress to your comfort level in private and stay covered by a sheet, with only the area being treated uncovered. For physiotherapy, osteopathy and kinesiology, wear or bring loose clothing you can move in.
What is shockwave therapy and who does it?
Shockwave therapy uses short, focused energy pulses over a painful tendon or connective-tissue area to stimulate repair. It is delivered at Kirschner by our kinesiologist and manual osteopathic practitioner. The first visit is up to 45 minutes and includes assessment and treatment for $100; follow-ups are 30 minutes for $90.
We bill your insurer directly.
Less paperwork at the desk, with clear answers before treatment starts.
